Arun Kang - CEO

Arun is widely recognised as a leading authority on equality, diversity and inclusion and secured his status having graduated with a Masters in Promoting Equality and Managing Diversity. Arun has worked in equality and inclusion for over twenty years and previous roles include Head of Equality and Diversity in the public sector and Director of Race Equality organisations. He began his career in the media, working as a producer for the BBC winning several awards and has several years experience as a youth worker.

During his time at Sporting Equals Arun founded the British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards (BEDSAs) and pioneered the faith centre engagement model as well as securing a six year partnership with Age UK to deliver the Fit as a Fiddle project.

Arun chairs the Department of Health Responsibility Deal Network and the Public Health England National Physical Activity Implementation Framework for Inclusion. He also chairs the Leaderboard National Steering Group that focuses on diversifying senior leadership in sport.

He is a visiting lecturer for the University of Birmingham, a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, lead member for sport for the World Entrepreneurship Forum and a Mentor for the European Social Innovation Academy.
