Arun Kang OBE
Arun is widely recognised as a leading authority on equality, diversity and inclusion. Arun's specialism is using sport to build more integrated communities, and engaging under-represented race and faith communities in sport and physical activity.
Arun has worked in equality and inclusion for over twenty years. After starting his career as a youth worker and then BBC Radio producer, Arun followed his passion for social change and completed an MA in Promoting Equality and Managing Diversity. Roles since have included Head of Equality and Diversity at a local authority, CEO of a Race Equality organisation and now CEO of the charity Sporting Equals.
Arun has transformed Sporting Equals to become the 'go to' organisation for inclusion of ethnically diverse communities in sport. Arun is the founder of the British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards and created the Leaderboard programme to diversify the boardrooms of sport. Arun has pioneered bringing the faith sector and sport sector together at a community level – taking sport directly into faith centres.
Arun's wider commitments include sitting on the Board of the Breaking Boundaries programme, Director of London Marathon Events Ltd. a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, lead member for sport for the World Entrepreneurship Forum and a Mentor for the European Social Innovation Academy.
Arun is a passionate speaker and has significant experience in engaging high-level influencers and decision makers including government ministers, corporate directors and faith-sector leaders.
