LOCATION:                Sporting Equals, Birmingham Office, (travel may be required) PHD through Leeds Beckett University

RESPONSIBLE TO:           Director of Projects

RESPONSIBLE FOR:        n/a

CONTRACT:                        Fixed term contract until 30 August 2020 (with possibility of extension)

HOURS:                                Part Time

(Note; this post may require contact and travel at evenings and weekends from time to time)

SALARY:                              £25,000 (pro rata 3 days)

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

1.         PURPOSE OF THE JOB

 

To provide research and project support to the Director of Projects helping to ensure Sporting Equals is recognised as a key source for advice and support in pursuit of the aim of increasing diversity in sport.

 

A key part of the role will be to undertake research activities, development of information resources, case studies, facts and key statistics into BAME, disadvantaged and diverse communities.

 

To support the Director of Projects on leading on insight work around BAME and sports participation and engagement capturing key data in consultation with partners and stakeholders.

 

To collect key insight and market intelligence across cities working closely with the regional team. To conduct focus groups, interviews and discussion forums to capture project based information and data.

 

To produce materials to support insight into key markets and audience.

 

To develop training resources.

 

To share insight to deliver presentations/ workshops to key partners and stakeholders.

 

To develop case studies, blogs, news stories, e-newsletters and social media messaging for communication and public relations.

 

To provide support and advice to the Director of Projects on the monitoring and evaluation frameworks for projects ensuring key data are collected to meet agreed KPIs.

 

To support the profile of projects through national campaigns such as 'This Girl Can'.

 

To help support key events throughout the year including Regional Forums, Leaderboard, and British Ethnic Minority Sports Diversity Awards (BEDSAs).

 

 

2.         KEY TASKS

 

To work closely with the Director of Projects and other members of the Sporting Equals team to;

 

Provide advice to the sport sector and other clients on engaging BAME audiences via telephone, e-mail, face-to-face meetings and training sessions.

 

Support the Sporting Equals website and social networking pages in order to promote brand image, services and ensure key messages from research are disseminated effectively.

 

Undertake field and desktop, insight activities around participation patterns, consumer demand, markets and sport provision to help develop resources and training that will support interventions with partners and stakeholders.

 

Provide proactive project and research support to Senior Management Team including representing Sporting Equals at meetings and events.

 

Support event management and compilation of presentations at key events in collaboration with the Senior Management team.

 

Take ownership of individual actions to deliver against agreed Key Performance Indicators and objectives.

 

Undertake other duties as are considered to be appropriate by the Director of Projects and the Senior Management Team.

 

Write a successful SERF research proposal that complements the work of Sporting Equals. Conduct independent research through the SERF Fellowship.
