+ pension, 33 days annual leave pro rata (includes Bank Holiday and company days)

This is an exciting, new and critical role with England Golf. The National Welfare Officer will work across the organisation and specifically with our Performance team, who work with our England Squads, our elite amateurs representing England.

You will support the Lead Safeguarding Officer in all matters relating to players welfare and safety, under the care of England Golf. Your role is to provide sufficient welfare support to players and families and ensure that professional conduct and supervisory roles are maintained whilst teams/individuals are at training and events. The role will require extensive travel with individuals/teams with the knowledge and ability to oversee individual's needs and respond to safeguarding concerns.

As the national governing body for amateur golf and we work at the heart of golf in England, supporting and empowering a thriving community of players, counties and clubs to get the most out of the game we love.

This post has been identified as involving access to vulnerable adults and/or children and in line with England Golf policy successful applicants will be required to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service Disclosure Check and must also have attended a Safeguarding and Protecting Children course (SPC) or be willing to undertake one.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:
•       Knowledge and experience of safeguarding and working with children at an operational level
•       Excellent interpersonal skills to develop positive and supportive relationships with individuals, players, parents, volunteers and staff at all levels.
•       Prior experience working with children
•       Understanding of roles and responsibilities of statutory agencies
•       Robust and accurate record keeping
•       Display attitude and behaviour that respects and values diversity and promotes equal opportunity
•       An ability to undertake basic risk assessments

The successful applicant needs to be highly motivated with a positive solution focussed attitude and a clear understanding of confidentiality. A knowledge of the game of golf is not essential for the role, however, would be advantageous.  We value being honest, inclusive, responsible, excellent and supportive.

This is an annualised hour's contract (910 hours per annum) due to the fluctuating working hours and demand. The role will require extensive travel and work weekends/evenings as well as during school holidays.  The position is home-based with attendance at events and England Golf Headquarters as required.
