Team England is proud to announce its participation in the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup due to take place at the IGI stadium Delhi, India from 13-19 January 2025. Fielding both a men’s and a women’s team, each squad will feature 15 talented athletes, ready to showcase their skills on the global stage in this thrilling and fast-paced sport.
Players selected from across England have been for the past 2 months including a boot camp over the 3-day period between Christmas and New Year in preparation for the competition.
The men’s England team has been drawn in a group made up of Australia, Kenya, Malaysia, Germany.
The women’s England team group include Uganda, Netherlands, Kenya, Germany, Australia.
The games will be televised and content will also be available on: Disney Hotstar, Star Sports and Doordarshan.
What is Kho Kho?
Kho Kho is a high-energy, team-based sport that combines speed, strategy, and agility. With its roots in India, this exhilarating game has captured the hearts of millions across the world. Played by two teams, the objective is simple: chase and tag opponents while avoiding being tagged yourself.
A Decade of Growth for Kho Kho in England
The Kho Kho game has been played since the seventies by different Indian community groups and organisations across the England. The Kho Kho Federation of England was established in 2013 by Brij Haldania, who serves as its chairman. Over the past decade, the federation has worked tirelessly to popularise the sport in the UK, building a foundation for Team England to compete at the international level.
Bollywood Stars Back the First Kho Kho World Cup
The first Kho Kho World Cup is already making waves, with some of Bollywood’s biggest stars lending their support as ambassadors. Iconic names like Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, and Ananya Panday have joined the cause, helping to elevate the sport’s profile and inspire a global audience.
