Lorraine Deschamps MBE
Trustee
Lorraine was educated in three different continents giving her a unique perspective on cross-cultural matters. Born in Kenya, she spent her early childhood in East Africa, her teenage years in Brazil and pursued her college and university education in the UK, where she still lives.
A Learning and Development consultant by profession, Lorraine is passionate about helping individuals, teams and organisations achieve their potential. With over twenty-five years’ experience under her belt achieved through working predominantly in the private sector she has helped establish learning as a key enabler of successful business performance across a number of global organisations.
A passion for football (acquired in Brazil) inspired Lorraine’s involvement in the sport. She started off as a grassroots Club Secretary, then taking up the whistle and becoming a referee officiating regularly in Men’s semi-professional football and in the Women’s Premier League. Today, eighteen years later and still active in refereeing, Lorraine is an experienced FA-Licensed Referee tutor. She was recently called upon to deliver diversity training to football’s PGMOL (Professional Game Match Officials) aimed at helping them deal with volatile situations caused by discriminatory behaviour before, during and after matches.
Lorraine is a founding director of Sporting Equals, serving two consecutive terms in pursuit of its growth and success. Awarded an MBE in 2012 for services to sports and diversity, Lorraine is now fulfilling a third term as a non-exec director of Sporting Equals.
