England Athletics is the National Governing Body for athletics and running in England. England Athletics is a membership and development organisation with c1,800 member clubs/bodies and c180,000 registered athletes, which exists to provide services and support to its members and to promote and deliver athletics and running activities across all ages, event disciplines, ability levels and aspirations; and to give support to the wider sport where there are more than 6.5m who run each month in England, 3,500 licensed road races and over 200,000 RunTogether participants operating in more than 3,256 groups.

About you:

We are seeking a dynamic, personable, and experienced marketing and communications professional to join our team. This role requires a minimum of five years of digital marketing experience, particularly within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. The ideal candidate will have a proven track-record in developing and implementing integrated marketing strategies, leading corporate communications, and managing teams and budgets. Creativity, strong analytical skills, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships and positive team culture are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement integrated marketing strategies.
  • Lead corporate communications and apply insights to marketing planning and delivery.
  • Plan and deliver user-led marketing campaigns and content plans.
  • Manage relationships with agencies, freelancers, and other content producers.
  • Build strong internal relationships and manage a marketing team.
  • Oversee budget management and ensure cost-effective marketing activities.

Specific Experience:

Required:

  • Minimum of five years in digital marketing.
  • Experience in a complex multi-stakeholder/membership environment.
  • Proven track-record of leading corporate communications.
  • Insight-driven marketing planning and delivery.
  • Experience managing marketing agencies, freelancers, and content producers.
  • Strong internal relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in line management and delegation.
  • Proficient in budget management.

  • Experience in athletics, running, or the wider sports sector.

  • Commercial awareness with a focus on ROI from marketing activities.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint; experience with CMS and email marketing systems is desirable.
