Leading with Heart: Yasmin’s Journey in Football

Yasmin Hussain, a dedicated member of the Frenford & MSA WFC organisation, received a nomination for the Community Champion of the Year award at the Sporting Equals Awards 2024. Yasmin’s passion and leadership have been instrumental in driving positive change, and her nomination stands as a testament to her outstanding contributions and the values she continues to champion.

Yasmin’s story is a testament to the transformative power of opportunity. Since then, she has not only honed her coaching skills but has also become a beacon of inspiration for hundreds of female coaches from ethnically diverse backgrounds.

What sets Yasmin apart is her ability to connect with individuals from all walks of life. Whether they have never played football before or had to step away due to cultural reasons, Yasmin’s inclusive approach and unwavering support has empowered countless women to pursue their passion for the beautiful game.

Yasmin’s impact extends far beyond the football field. Her dedication to community outreach, including managing the club’s women’s five-a-side and U16 girls’ teams, and conducting outreach sessions at local schools, highlights her commitment to breaking down barriers and creating more opportunities for girls to engage in sports.

As an FA Community Champion, Yasmin has made a significant impact on clubs at local, regional, and national levels. Over the past three years, she has supported numerous clubs in growing their girls’ football programmes by delivering workshops and inspiring females to step over the sidelines. Her efforts have focused on building confidence, encouraging women to become coaches, and supporting them throughout their journeys. She has successfully recruited over sixty females, who are now making a positive impact in their communities and providing many girls with the opportunity to access and enjoy football.

Yasmin’s efforts have not gone unnoticed. She was awarded the BT Sport Community Champion Award and had the honour of serving as a Baton Bearer for the Commonwealth Games. This was an acknowledgment of her exceptional contributions to her community and the broader sporting landscape.

Yasmin’s journey is not just about personal accolades. It’s about the profound impact she has had on the lives of those around her. Through her tireless efforts, she has not only transformed the landscape of football coaching but has also instilled a sense of confidence and empowerment in countless individuals.
