In the sports sector, only 7.9% of Board members and 3% of Exec/SMT leadership positions are from Ethnically Diverse Communities. Our ground-breaking leadership programme and campaign aims to not only increase demographic diversity on Boards and in executive leadership positions, but also shift existing belief systems away from ‘diversity as tokenism’ to ‘diversity as essential’ for the future success of our sector.

Created by Sporting Equals and broadcast by Sky Sports, the British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards (BEDSA) is an annual celebration of sporting excellence within Ethnically Diverse Communities, to help inspire the next generation. BEDSA is our flagship event which helps recognise the significant contributions made by Ethnically Diverse Community talent, on and off the field of play.

Shedding light on some of the important work we do for the Ethnically Diverse Communities in Britain. Our projects are aimed at building bridges to tackle current issues in society; including our 'Making Equals' project and the BEDSA awards.

Sporting Equals works with it’s two Associated Groups, the Sport Monitoring Advisory Panel and the BASPA Advisory Board to advocate and campaign on issues impacting ethnically diverse communities in the UK sport and physical activity sector, in grassroots participation, decision making roles and professional sport.
