Future Female Leaders - Birmingham
Following the success in London, we have now expanded the Future Female Leaders programme to Birmingham.
Supporting 12 ethnically diverse women, to empower them as leaders in their community. As part of this programme candidates will receive a free coaching qualification alongside workshops: leadership, designing the delivery and more. This programme provides a women only space in which candidates can share previous experiences and learnings.
This programme is funded by Peter Harrison Foundation and will run until April 2025.

Following the success in London, we have now expanded the Future Female Leaders programme to Birmingham.
This programme has supported 11 ethnically diverse women, to empower them as leaders in their community. As part of this programme candidates received a free coaching qualification alongside a variety of online workshops, from influential women in the sector, including topics such as leadership, designing the delivery and more. This programme provided a women only space in which candidates could share previous experiences and learnings.
This programme was kindly funded by the Peter Harrison Foundation, an independent foundation that funds charities in the UK to empower individuals with from under represented groups.

Touchpoint 1 - Welcome to Future Female Leaders
An online workshop welcoming the candidates and piloting the programme to Birmingham.
Introduction session topics include:
- Overview of programme
- Learnings from London project
- Get to know the candidates
- Next steps
Touchpoint 2 - Breaking Down the Door
Focus group with the candidates to understand current motivations and barriers around coaching.
Insights will be shared as part of the end of the project report.
Touchpoint 3 - Stand in YOUR Power
Session delivered by Co-Founder of Black Trail Runners Sabrina Pace-Humphreys.
This engaging and interactive session explored themes around imposter syndrome, self-confidence, and stepping out of your comfort zone.
Touchpoint 4 - Coaching Course
In November the candidates completed the Kidztivity Activator Course (CIMSPA accredited) which centres around building confidence and engaging young people through the use of mini games and activities.
Following the course 100% of candidates agreed that they felt more confident to successfully deliver activities to young people.
Touchpoint 5 - Coaching Characteristics
For touchpoint 5 we were joined by Asma from the Muslim Sports Foundation. Asma delivered an excellent interactive session around coaching characteristics and the importance of building rapport with local communities.
The virtual session allowed candidates to explore skills that they currently have as a coach and traits that they think are important to best support beneficiaries.
Touchpoint 6 - An athlete perspective and Inclusive Sport
Touchpoint 6 was delivered by Paralympian and LeaderBoard alumni, Tania Nadarajah. Tania shared her journey and experiences as an athlete, exploring ideas around transitioning into elite sport, what makes a good coach and the importance of accessibility.
Touchpoint 7 - Future Female Leaders Workshop - Insights from Miriam Walker Khan
The final session was delivered by Miriam Walker-Khan, Sky Sports EDI journalist and founder of Brown Girls Sport. Miriam's session highlighted the importance of networking to help grow your confidence.
The empowering session encouraged candidates to think about their "super skill" and use that to make connections and deliver high-quality physical activity.
Learning and Insight Webinar
Sporting Equals will be hosting a webinar to the wider sport sector to share the impact report and key learnings from this programme.
The webinar will took place on the 9th of April.
