Fatmata K Daramy
Head of Race Equity and Impact
Fatmata’s role at Sporting Equals is to lead race equity, research and impact.
She is a race equity specialist with experience leading strategic Equality, Diversity and Inclusion work, outreach, evaluation, and academic partnerships across multiple higher education institutions. She has led numerous flagship race equity schemes, with her personal values being strongly embedded in social justice.
She has produced and co-produced sector-wide resources aimed at improving race equity and has multiple peer-reviewed publications including work on how terminology related to race equity is misused and weaponised.
She graduated from the University of Leicester with a 1st class degree in Biological Science (Neuroscience), and a Distinction Master of Science from UCL/Birkbeck in Educational Neuroscience. Her mixed-methods PhD project focuses on Decolonising Mental Health and Wellbeing in higher education through the creation of a framework.
With her academic background being in mental health and wellbeing, she recognises the importance of physical exercise. As such in her spare time, she takes part in a range of sporting activities including kickboxing, dancing, hiking and running.
