KRIMMZ Girls Youth Club to Grow and Thrive

At Sporting Equals, we know that when funding is directed into grassroots organisations, the impact can be transformational. That is why we are delighted to be supporting KRIMMZ Girls Youth Club, a community organisation in Bolton that has been working tirelessly to break down barriers and open up access to sport for women, girls, and families from ethnically diverse communities.

This funding will play a vital role in strengthening their programmes, tackling inequalities, and building long term sustainability.

Expanding Access to Inclusive Sport

One of the biggest challenges faced by families in Bolton is the lack of affordable and culturally inclusive opportunities to take part in sport. With this funding, KRIMMZ Girls Youth Club will be able to offer a wider range of activities, including structured coaching sessions, school holiday multi-sport camps, and fitness classes for all ages and abilities.

KRIMMZ  continues to build on this progress with exciting new initiatives. Over the summer, they hosted a Community Day in partnership with a local rugby club and nearby mosques, bringing together more than 300 people to showcase rugby. This was followed by a six-week trial of women’s only coaching sessions for girls and young boys (male coaches). Their success led to a joint funding award of £19,000 from Bolton CVS to continue this work.

As part of this funding KRIMMZ have supported their members with exposure to new activities including outdoor adventure and orienteering. A new offering for the organisation across 12 weeks.

Focus on Sustainability and Building Leadership

“The new outdoor sessions have brought our girls together in such a beautiful way. They’re supporting one another, building trust, and finding confidence as a community. It’s shown them that adventure isn’t just about the outdoors — it’s about belonging, teamwork and growing together.”

The future of any community project depends on the people who lead it. This funding will support leadership and coaching training for local women, giving them the skills and confidence to take on delivery roles within the organisation.

Importantly, the people who are trained will reflect the communities they serve. This ensures that participants feel welcome, represented, and supported from the very first session.

This approach ensures sustainability. By building capacity within the community itself, KRIMMZ Girls Youth Club will reduce reliance on external coaches and create long term pathways for women and girls to grow as leaders.

This funding has already supported a variety of coaching courses to be completed including the Introduction to First Aid in Football, Safeguarding Children in Football, Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid and the Archery Instructor award. Alongside this Khadija ensures that KRIMMZ secure the relevant equipment to make delivery of sessions at KRIMMZ accessible and non-reliant on venue hire.

The addition of a part time staff member has already made a meaningful difference. Their support in managing bids, overseeing programmes, and coordinating volunteers has strengthened the club’s operations and allowed for more effective planning and delivery.

Lasting Impact for Communities in Bolton

The areas of Bolton where KRIMMZ Girls Youth Club operates face high levels of deprivation, including unemployment, poor health, housing issues, and cultural barriers to inclusion. This funding will enable the club to provide a consistent programme of activities that directly address these challenges, offering positive opportunities that improve health, wellbeing, and community cohesion.

The work doesn’t stop here though, KRIMMZ plan on using the remaining funding to develop more female leaders, try new sports and ensure the organisation is sustainable looking at future funding opportunities and marketing development.

At Sporting Equals, we are proud to continue supporting KRIMMZ Girls Youth Club in their mission. With the help of Comic Relief funding, they will be able to grow their reach, expand their programmes, and make sure that women, girls, and families from ethnically diverse communities are not only included in sport but are leading the way.
